Copland Icons Release II Installer September 1996 David Ordal ordal@poboxes.com http://www.halcyon.com/ordal/copland/ Welcome to the Copland Icons Release II Installer. This program installs new icon resources in your System File and Apple Menu Options Control Panel which give all your folders the look of the forthcoming Copland (MacOS 8) operating system. To get started right now, click the "Contine" button. However, you may want to read the rest of this document first. System Requirements The Copland Icons Release II Installer will work on any Macintosh running MacOS 7.5, 7.5.1, 7.5.2 or 7.5.3 (MacOS 7.5.3 is strongly recommended). It will not install on any previous versions of the MacOS, and should not be installed on the next interim version of the MacOS, code named Harmony, as that release will incorporate the Copland interface and the Copland icons as a standard feature. It will also only function on a "clean-install" of the System Software. If you have added Copland icons in the past, the this installer will not work, and you should perform a manual installation of the icons. (See the "Manual Installation" folder for more information.) Installation Instructions Note: The Installer will not function correctly if Virus Protection software is installed. Please disable it before installing. When you click the "Continue" button below, you will be asked to find the System File, which is named "System" and is in your System Folder. After you have told the Installer where it is, it will be loaded into memory and the new icons will be installed in it. The old System File (with the old icons) will be moved to the Trash, and the new System File will take the place of the old one. The Installer will then ask for the Apple Menu Options Control Panel, which also needs new icons. After you have told it where to find the control panel, it too will be updated and the old copy moved to the Trash. Once the Installer quits, you must restart your computer for the changes to take effect. If it doesn't work... If you get an error message when installing the icons, you should quit the Installer and perform a Manual Installation. See the "Manual Installation" folder for more information.
